There are a multitude of benefits to metal roofing and siding besides its basic functionality. Many insurance companies will offer better rates to those with metal roofing because they know it is more resilient than basic shingles. Metal is extremely wind resistant and hail resistant. Because of the many layers of paint and its baked on application to the metal, smaller hail storms will not damage the cladding. Even if hail does cause dents in the metal, the overall protection to the roof remains.

Aside from the potential insurance benefits, there are also energy benefits. While metal is not insulated in itself, it does help to prevent heat from escaping which can lower overall heating bills. Studies have also been done that show it can reduce bills in the summer as well when air conditioning is running.

There are also a wide variety of metal roofing options that are better for high wind, snow, and rainfall areas. Rather than having shingles blow off when winds begin gusting, the metal is fastened so securely that it will not budge. Some customers will take extra precautions and go with a hidden fastener option for maximum protection!

Because we know pricing is always a concern, we like to remind our customers that while the initial investment may seem higher, the long term benefits outweigh that of shingles. One manufacture took the time to compare the initial costs of shingles vs. metal… and how metal is actually the more cost effective option over time. Metal will cost more up front, but if we think of how frequently shingles must be replaced and the rising inflation over time, shingles actually become more expensive in the long run.

“Stephanie & Stewart at Armour Cladding were fabulous to deal with! From steering us in the right direction of what type of material would be best for our project, to the product coming in (in a timely manner), and following up many times to make sure that we were happy with the product! They also can’t wait to come and take a look at our project when it’s completed. Armour Cladding should definitely be your ‘Go-To’ locally owned source for all your cladding needs!”
